You can share your smart key with up to 3 people, set sharing periods and which features they can access. You can also delete users with ease, removing access and retaining complete control and security.

Smartphone registration is only available to Genesis Connected Services users. If problem arises during registration, please make sure your smartphone software and vehicle system are fully up-to-date and start again.

Usage InstructionsUsage Instructions

Please follow the instructions below to register, use, share, or delete your Genesis Digital Key 2. You can download the Genesis Connected Services App from the Apple or Samsung App Stores.

  1. Registration Through the Genesis Connected Services App

    Step 1

    Download the Genesis Connected Services App from the Apple or Samsung App Stores , register and bind with your vehicle.

  2. Step 2

    Open the App, go to [ADD VEHICLE] > [DIGITAL KEY] > [REGISTER], you will then be taken to the setting interface on your iPhone or other compatible smartphone automatically.

  3. Step 3

    You will be prompted on your next action based on the model of your iPhone or other compatible smartphone
    - Digital Key Registration through wireless connection (Smartphones that support UWB)
    - Digital Key Registration by placing your smart phone on the wireless charging pad (Smartphones that do not support UWB)

    ※ To check whether your smartphone supports UWB, please refer to [ Digital Key 2 Supported Smartphone List ].
  4. Step 4

    On the car navigation screen, go to [SETTING] > [VEHICLE] > [DIGITAL KEY] > [SMARTPHONE] to continue.

  5. Step 5

    Press [Register] on the car navigation screen to complete the whole registration process.

  6. Registration via SMS

    Step 1

    Download the Genesis Connected Services App from the Apple or Samsung App Stores , register and bind with your vehicle.

  7. Step 2

    Go to [SETTING] > [VEHICLE] > [DIGITAL KEY] > [SMARTPHONE DIGITAL KEY] to continue. (do not press [REGISTER])

  8. Step 3

    Open the App, go to [ADD VEHICLE] > [DIGITAL KEY] > [REGISTER via SMS], press on the link sent via SMS, you will then be taken to the setting interface on your iPhone or other compatible smartphone automatically .

  9. Step 4

    Follow the instruction to register:
    - Digital Key Registration through wireless connection (Smartphones that support UWB)
    - If your iPhone or other smartphone does not support UWB, you will be prompted to place your smartphone on the wireless charging pad.

    ※ To check whether your smartphone supports UWB, please refer to [ Digital Key 2 Supported Smartphone List ].
  10. Step 5

    On the car navigation screen, press [SETTING] > [VEHICLE] > [DIGITAL KEY] > [SMARTPHONE DIGTAL KEY] > [REGISTER] to register your key.

  11. Registration through PASSCODE

    Step 1

    Download the Genesis Connected Services App from the Apple or Samsung App Stores, register and bind with your vehicle.

  12. Step 2

    Place your smart phone on the wireless charging pad.

  13. Step 3

    On the car navigation screen, go to [SETTING] > [VEHICLE] > [DIGITAL KEY] > [SMARTPHONE DIGTAL KEY] > [REGISTER].

  14. Step 4

    Enter the PASSCODE (PASSCODE CAN BE OBTAINED THROUGH Genesis Connected Services App, go to [ADD VEHICLE] > [DIGITAL KEY] > [SEND REGISTRATION GUIDE THROUGH SMS]

  15. Step 5

    Placing your smart phone on the wireless charging pad, press [Register] on the car navigation screen to complete the whole registration process.

  1. Step 1

    Login the same account on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

  2. Step 2

    Put on your Apple Watch, and make sure it is not on lock mode.

  3. Step 3

    Check the registration status on your iPhone to check whether your Apple Watch Digital Key has been added successfully.

    ※ Step 1 and 2 must be completed in order to proceed to Step 3
  1. Touch Control

    Lock and unlock the door and start the vehicle without opening the Genesis Connected Services App.

    1) Place the smartphone or NFC-enabled key near to the door handle (hold for up to 2 seconds) to lock and unlock the door.
    2) Place the smartphone or NFC-enabled key on the wireless charging pad and press the START button to start the vehicle.

  2. Express Mode

    When Express Mode is not activated, you must authenticate (enter iPhone or Samsung Wallet password) every time you use Digital Key 2. After activating Express Mode, Digital Key can close and unlock the doors and start the vehicle without manual user authentication.

  3. How to activate Express Mode

    Step 1

    Open your smartphone system application (Apple Wallet / Samsung Wallet app)

  4. Step 2

    ( iOS ) [Digital Key Card] > Select [More] > [Card Details] > Select [Express Mode]
    ( Samsung ) [Digital Key Details] > Select [...] > [Security] > [Unlock when nearby] When Off > [Authentication required] Turn Off

  1. Touch Control

    Lock and unlock the door and start the vehicle without opening the Genesis Connected Services App.

    1) Place the smartphone or NFC-enabled key near to the door handle (hold for up to 2 seconds) to lock and unlock the door.
    2) Place the smartphone or NFC-enabled key on the wireless charging pad and press the START button to start the vehicle.

  2. Proximity Control

    Proximity Control is limited to UWB-enabled smartphones only, and can be used when the "(iOS) [Comfort Entry]" or "(Samsung) [Unlock When Nearby]" function is turned on in the Apple Wallet or Samsung Wallet app.
    UWB-enabled smartphones can be used to unlock the doors or trunk and start the vehicle even without touching the NFC chip to the vehicle sensors.

    Details

    1) Turn on "(iOS) [Comfort Entry]" or "(Samsung) [Unlock When Nearby]” function. With this function not activated, only Touch Control can be used to control the vehicle.
    2) On the in-vehicle infotainment system, select [Settings] > [Vehicle] > [Doors/Tailgate] > [Unlock When Nearby] (Smart Approach Unlock function).
    3) After the door is unlocks upon close proximity, it will automatically re-lock if you move away from the vehicle without opening the door; After the door has been opened and closed again, touch the lock button on the door handle to lock the door.

    Functions 1) and 2) must both be activated in order to enable the Proximity Control function. Once enabled, the vehicle doors will be automatically unlock when your smartphone is close to the vehicle (approximately 1.5 metres).
    *Electric trunk: On the in-vehicle infotainment system, select [Settings] > [Vehicle] > [Door/Tailgate] > Open [Electric Trunk]. When your smartphone is held close to the sensor (hold for up to 3 seconds) on the trunk, it will open automatically, without the need to press the button.
  3. Proximity Control on your smartphone app

    Tapping the Digital Key card in the Apple Wallet or Samsung Wallet app allows you to control the vehicle by selecting "Door Lock”, “Unlock”, or "Remote Start”.

  4. Step 1

    Open your smartphone system application (Apple Wallet / Samsung Wallet app)

  5. Step 2

    ( iOS ) [Digital Key Card] > Select [More] > [Comfort Entry] Turn On
    ( Samsung ) [Digital Key Details] > Select [...] > [Security] > [Passive Entry] Turn On

  1. Digital Key 2 can be shared with others

    Share with up to 3 people, with full control over permissions and duration.

    Step 1

    In the Genesis Connected Services app, select [Add Login Vehicle] > [Digital Key] from the menu in the upper left corner. This will automatically open your Apple Wallet or Samsung Wallet app, or direct you to the relevant smartphone app store.

  2. Step 2

    ( iOS ) Select [Digital Key Card] > select the appropriate key card > select [Share] in the upper right corner > select sharing permissions > select [Continue] in the upper right corner] > select a contact name and phone number from your address book > select [Send]
    * If an iPhone and Apple Watch are logged in under the same account, and the Apple Watch is worn and unlocked, digital keys can be shared between the iPhone and Apple Watch.
    ( Samsung ) Select [Car Key] > select the appropriate key card > [Share Key] > select a contact name and phone number from your address book > enter the recipient’s name / select sharing permissions and duration > enter password > [Send Key]


    ※ The above sharing is only applicable when both users are using same brand of mobile phone (i.e. Samsung smartphone users can only share keys with Samsung smartphone users, and iPhone users can only share keys with iPhone users).
    ※ The setup procedure in the smartphone system app in STEP 02 above is subject to change.
    ※ The same Apple ID cannot share the digital key, and the invitation message must be sent via iMessage.
    ※ The same Samsung ID cannot share the digital key.
  1. 1. Deleting the vehicle owner’s Digital Key

    1) Delete the Digital Key in the Genesis Connected Services app

  2. Step 1

    In the Genesis Connected Services app, select [Add Login Vehicle] > [Digital Key] from the menu in the upper left corner. This will automatically open your Apple Wallet or Samsung Wallet app, or direct you to the relevant smartphone app store.

  3. Step 2

    ( iOS ) Select [Digital Key Card] > select […] in the upper right corner > select [!] > select [Remove Car Key]
    ( Samsung ) Select [Car Key] > select […] > [Delete]


    ※If there are shared digital keys, they will not be deleted.
    ※If you need to re-register the vehicle owner’s digital key, you will need to re-start the vehicle first.
  4. 2) Delete the Digital Key via the vehicle’s navigation system

  5. Step 1

    From the vehicle navigation screen settings, select [Vehicle] > [Digital Key] > [Smartphone Key] > [My Smartphone Key] > delete the digital key on the [Delete] page.

  6. 2. Deleting shared Digital Keys

    Step 1

    In the Genesis Connected Services app, select [Add Login Vehicle] > [Digital Key] from the menu in the upper left corner. This will automatically open your Apple Wallet or Samsung Wallet app, or direct you to the relevant smartphone app store.

  7. Step 2

    ( iOS ) Select [Digital Key Card] > select [Shared Keys] in the upper right corner > select the name of the contact to remove > enter smartphone password > select [Stop Sharing]
    ( Samsung ) Select [Car Key] > select [Share your Keys] at the bottom > [Cancel Sharing]

  8. 3. Deleting all Digital Keys

    1) Delete all Digital Keys via the Genesis Connected Services app

  9. Step 1

    In the Genesis Connected Services app, select [Digital Key] > enter [Digital Key Setup] in order to delete all Digital Keys.

  10. 2) Delete all Digital Keys via the vehicle’s navigation system

  11. Step 1

    From the vehicle navigation screen settings, select [Vehicle] > [Digital Key] > [Smartphone Key] > [Delete All]


    **If all Digital Keys have been deleted and the owner needs to register a new key, go to the Digital Key page in the Genesis Connected Services app and click the "Send Registration Guide SMS" button. The vehicle owner will receive an instructional SMS for the new Digital Key 2 on his/her mobile phone, which includes the new registration link (for both iOS and Samsung) and new registration PASSCODE to facilitate the registration of the new Digital Key.

    Bring along the two smart keys.

  2. Step 2

    Place the NFC Card Key on the wireless charging pad.

  3. Step 3

    On the car navigation screen, go to [SETTING] > [VEHICLE] > [DIGITAL KEY] > [NFC Card Key] > [INITIATE Card Key] > [REGISTER] to complete the registration.
